Reports received by the Azerbaijan People's Human Rights Organisation in Iran (AHRAZ) indicate continuing security pressure on Azerbaijani Turk civil and cultural activists in Tabriz. In the latest case, agents of the Tabriz Intelligence Office went to the home of Vahid Valizadeh, an Azerbaijani Turk civil and cultural activist, and searched it.
According to the information received, during the search the agents seized Vahid Valizadeh's mobile phone and laptop and took them away.
Vahid Valizadeh is an activist in the field of the Azerbaijani Turkic language and culture, with a record of civil, cultural and social activity related to Azerbaijan.
The action comes at a time when, in recent days, reports have been published of summonses, interrogations, arrests and pressure on a number of Azerbaijani Turk civil activists in Tabriz.
At the time of writing, no precise information is available about the reasons for the search of Vahid Valizadeh's home, any possible charges against him, or any decision by the security and judicial bodies concerning him.
